Forum: movies Subject: trouble downloading file, not in FTP folder

hi
i downloaded most of the film Nazi Concentration Camps, but got disconnected about 95% through. (i had done the "save as" on main description webpage with Firefox)
i had downloaded the mpeg2 version. i then tried downloading it with my FTP program, but that particular file does not show up in the folder at the FTP site. all the other formats are there, it seems. i clicked on the "ftp" link on the main webpage to double-check, and the .mpeg version in shown on that webpage, but does not show up in the folder in my FTP program. the only .mpeg file is a 0k file.

i am wondering if it is REALLY not there, or if i am doing something wrong. i downloaded most of it, so i am curious what happened.

thanks

we have had some problems with files > 2GB getting downloaded properly with web browser clients -- the MPEG-2/mpeg version is over 2GB.

so what we'd normally recommend when there are problems is to do what you did -- use a separate FTP program. however, it sounds like your FTP program is not seeing it. I just tried with a linux ftp cmd-line program and see it. Is it possible your FTP program doesn't understand > 2GB files?

thanks for heads-up tracey. my guess now is that the problem is in my freeware FTP program. i will ask my friend for a recommendation of a better one. it was strange, because it LOOKED like the file was there, but it said it was 0k in size, so i guess my program was confused

thanks again
